Swami Dayananda Ashram

Swami Dayananda Saraswati, an internationally recognised Vedanta teacher and greatest Sanskrit scholar, founded Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh in the 1960s. The Ashram is located on the banks of the Holy Ganga in a secluded area close to the airport and train facilities. The ashram is 21 kilometres from Dehradun Airport and 3 kilometres from the Dehradun Rail Station. It is a one-of-a-kind centre for the study of Vedanta and Sanskrit in English, while remaining true to the old teaching tradition (Sampradaya). It's called Arsha Vidya Pitham, which translates to "a learning centre based on the teachings of ancient rishis." Here, chosen Vedanta books and auxiliary literature are taught, as well as Paninian-style Sanskrit grammar and Vedic chantings throughout classes. Regular retreats on Vedanta, Yoga, and other disciplines are held throughout the year by Arsha Vidya Teachers who gather their students for specific periods of time and give lessons.
