A charming small ashram named Neem Karoli Baba Ashram is nestled in the sylvan slopes of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand. The ashram provides the ideal location for a calm and private vacation, with lush vegetation flourishing in the temple courtyard and tidy rooms nestled away around it.
In 1964, a Hanuman temple was erected at the Kainchi Dham ashram, where he spent the last decade of his life. It all began two years ago with the construction of a small platform on which two local sadhus, Premi Baba and Sombari Maharaj, could perform yagnas. The temple, which is located 17 kilometres from Nainital on the Nainital-Almora road, has become a popular pilgrimage destination for locals as well as spiritual seekers and devotees from all over the world. Every year on June 15, the Kainchi Dham Bhandara is held to celebrate the temple's opening, a festival that attracts over a lakh people.

Selfless service is a
spiritual discipline known as seva. Seva, a Sanskrit term, is derived from two
types of yoga: Karma Yoga (action yoga) and Bhakti Yoga (worship yoga inspired
by divine love). Seva is one of the most basic, but profound, and life-changing
methods to put our spiritual understanding into practice. “How may I assist
you?” Seva inquires. Alternatively, you might ask, “Can I assist you?” Another
method to provide service is to roll up your sleeves and assist where you see a
need. We may give of our time and energy to those in need and respond
favourably when someone begs for assistance.Sri Ravi Yes Shankar of the Art of Living Foundation defines Seva as "being
present when the need arises." When labour is viewed as divine service, it
may be performed anywhere, at any time. Seva is about raising oneself, one's
community, and one's planet. Offering our Seva is a powerful way to contribute
to the spiritual community of other beings on our planet. It is a spiritual
exercise and a spiritual discipline that nourishes us spiritually and wakes us
to the bigger reality of our own existence. |
